Job Title: Pharmacist

Position Summary:

As an integral part of the pharmacy team, the Staff Pharmacist practices pharmacy consistent with company expectations and applicable state and federal laws and regulations in a fast-paced environment focused on dispensing accuracy and patient care. The Staff Pharmacist performs duties in both the adjudication and production work environments while providing direct supervision of Pharmacy Services Representatives, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Support Specialists performing pharmacy related duties. In adjudication, the Staff Pharmacist is charged with interpretation of prescription orders, peer-to-peer, patient, and other communications to clarify and verify information and provide counseling. In production, the Staff Pharmacist reviews the fulfillment of prescription orders, works with robotics and automation, completes prescription transfers, and assists with drug procurement through various wholesalers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret prescription orders and obtain necessary information or clarification from prescribers, patients, or others.
  • Conduct Drug Utilization Review
  • Provide direct supervision of pharmacy services representatives, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy support specialists performing pharmacy related duties.
  • Perform these duties while practicing pharmacy:
    • Verify prescription authenticity
    • Resolve prescription discrepancies and seek clarification when necessary
    • Ensure shipping and delivery processes are followed by pharmacy staff
  • Serve as a backup to the Pharmacist-in-Charge for compliance with FDA and manufacturer restrictions associated with Company regulations.
  • Consult with patients and prescribers as required or necessary about drug interactions, side effects, medication storage, and other requested or pertinent prescription drug information.
  • Verify correct medication, directions for use, and other prescription information, consistent with company policies and regulatory requirements, prior to dispensing.
  • Meet or exceed daily workflow expectations.
  • Complete additional pharmacist state licensure and Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) requirements based on business needs of Serve You Rx.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required as the Staff Pharmacist.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent or higher. PharmD degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Minimum one (1) year experience preferred. Experience in retail pharmacy and/or insurance/healthcare background preferred. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a dispensing pharmacy.

Licensing/Specialized Skills:
  • Registered Pharmacist in the state of employment
  • Detail oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruption
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions
  • Ability to stay focused and productive though tasks may be repetitive
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule for peak times
  • Good customer service skills required
Computer/Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system application
  • Digital dexterity e.g. use of computer keyboard
  • Knowledge of computer programs
  • Telephone skills
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Individuals may need to stand for excessive amounts of time. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting product or moving materials throughout the workday.
  • Travel requirements of this position include local, domestic travel on occasions to attend or provide training sessions.
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical retail pharmacy environment.
